Building Works
We are excited to inform you that we now have a start date for the refurbishment of Orchard Surgery. Building works will start on the 26th January 2026, and will last about 12 weeks.
We will be refurbishing the patient toilets, creating a new clinical room and refurbishing rooms 4,5,6 7, and 8.
There will be considerable disruption during the build, in particular, the patient car park will be out of action for the duration. Patients are requested to try to not drive to the surgery, but if you need to, please park on the side of the road. We ask you to mindful that access is still needed for the residential houses, so please park with consideration for our local residents.
During the build, we will be working in a different way. The total triage system will still be used, where all requests for appointments will be triaged by the duty doctor, and those who urgently need to be seen by the GP, will be seen. Many of our appointments will be dealt with over the phone by the GP.
We will have access to 3 clinical rooms at the surgery and have secured a further clinical room at the Health Centre in Orchard Road Melbourn, so some of your face to face appointments may take place there. We will continue to work at the Melbourn Hub on a Monday and Tuesday morning, and we will, of course, inform you where your appointment will be if you are to be seen face to face.
To recap
- Building work will commence the 26th January 2026
- The build will last 12 weeks
- The patient car park will be out of action
- You will need to walk to the surgery, or park on the road, being mindful of our residents in New Road
- Total triage will continue as normal where all requests are looked at by the Duty GP
- There will be limited face to face appointments – but patients who need to be seen will be seen
- You may be seen at the Health Centre in Orchard Road
Please bear with us during this time, and we very much look forward to being able to share a refurbished surgery by the end of April, which will improve patient access and experience.
Thank you for your co-operation
